This whole Roman Polanski thing is just outrageous. Sad and outrageous. Sad because it seems that the real tragedy of this story is lost on some people. It is NOT that an Oscar-winning director was duped into a Swiss prison cell when he thought he was just going to drop by the Zurich Film Festival and pick up yet another award. The tragedy is that this arrogant, disgusting rapist, who also happens to be a filmmaker, drugged, raped, and sodomized a 13 year old girl and has managed to avert any punishment for it. Outrageous because Roman Polanski actually thinks this is the appropriate outcome. Seriously, dude? And there are actually actors and directors signing a petition for his release! You have got to be kidding me. Thankfully, the Swiss authorities are going to apply real law, not Hollywood law.
And thank you, Chris Rock, for saying out loud what the rest of us are thinking…
